Clothing
In Australia, over 60% of our clothing is manufactured from synthetic fibres, which are derived from petrochemicals. Washing machines are the biggest contributor to micro-plastics in our oceans, as they discharge waste water laden with synthetic fibres from the wear and tear of the washing process. At the end of it’s usable life this fabric ends up in landfill where a fabric such as lycra or polyester can take over 500 years to decompose.
Always choose clothing made from natural or predominantly natural fabrics. It’s only natural!
